What they are doing

Waystar's annual report for the year ended 31 December 2025, filed 17 February 2026, names AltitudeAI as the engine inside the provider payment platform. It predicts whether a denied claim is worth appealing, from the patient's benefits, the procedure, and the payer's behavior, so the hospital can choose which denials to work. Generative AI drafts the appeal from the claim and a library of more than 1,100 payer-specific templates. Agentic workflows read the medical record and pre-fill a correction request. The same report says about half of the solutions use AI, and that the platform processes 7.5 billion payment transactions a year. Those are not a result on the appeal. Iodine, bought in October 2025, is described as clinical-documentation software. The quarterly report for the period ended 30 June 2026, and the 29 July 2026 earnings release, still name AltitudeAI. The chief executive says it is helping clients. Neither document gives an appeal rate. A February 2026 company release states rates. That release is Waystar, so it does not raise Proof. Hurdle 2 is not cleared.

Why the score

  • Reach 3 not 2: appeal prediction, appeal drafting, missing-charge discovery, and clinical documentation are named in the payment workflow.
  • Reach 3 not 4: they sit in one revenue-cycle suite.
  • Weight 3 not 2: the prediction sits in which denied claims get worked. A payments vendor without it is weaker in that decision.
  • Weight 3 not 4: the platform is still how Waystar goes to market. The filing does not show the model running the book.
  • Proof 3 not 4: the annual report describes the prediction, the letter, and the chart pre-fill as what the platform does. No appeal rate is in the filing. Transaction volume is not a result on the model.

What would move it next quarter: An appeal-success rate or a recovery number on AltitudeAI, in a filing. Another product name will not move this.

2025 annual report

AltitudeAI predicts the success of a claim appeal from patient benefits, the procedure, and payer behavior, so providers can prioritize denials. Quarterly report, period ended 30 Jun 2026

The quarter still describes AltitudeAI as the engine in the payment platform, using machine learning, large language models, and generative and agentic AI. Iodine is described as clinical-documentation software, bought for $1.26 billion and closed on 1 October 2025. No appeal rate is given.

Earnings release, 29 Jul 2026

Chief executive Matt Hawkins said the accelerating impact of AltitudeAI helps clients improve performance. The release gives no appeal rate and no recovery number.
